Tulia Trust Street Dancing Competition 2020 is a hot event, designed to create a vibrant platform for the youth in Mbeya District to come together and display their dancing talents. Street dancing is a new and unique idea not only in Mbeya District, but also in the southern highlands region. Tulia Trust aims to bring a unique angle to dancing in the region by bringing it down to the streets. The event will be a combination of entertainment, competition and coaching to help groom and promote dancers.
Many dance competitions has been held in the past and many more are currently on going but none has been able to bring it down to the streets for easy access to the population.
With plan to teach dancing in future combined with the provision of the platform for people to perform, we don’t just groom dancers or hold dancing competitions, we entertain and help people make career out of dancing.
The Tulia Trust Street Dancing Competition will start at street level, with collaboration with local government leaders. At first, we will utilize temporal centers to hold auditions for dancers in collaboration with experienced dancers and existing dance trainers.
At least 50 dancing crews will participate to the competition. Each crew will be made up of between 8-10 dancers.
Competitions will be run in selected streets of the District.
Winners from each street compete to determine the street’s representative at the final of the Tulia Trust Street Dancing Competition.
The top three crews from each street go ahead to compete for the title of the Tulia Trust Street Dancing Competition.
